The Good Place reunion we deserve: Kirby Howell-Baptiste joins the Veronica Mars revival
Fans of The Good Place have a forkin’ good reason to celebrate: Kirby Howell-Baptiste will be reuniting with Kristen Bell in a recurring role for Hulu’s long awaited revival of Veronica Mars, which will premiere in 2019.
This time Baptiste will be heading over to Neptune to play Nicole, the owner and operator of a night club that is a hot spot among spring breakers. When the visiting partiers are targeted in a string of murders, Veronica is tapped to investigate and eventually led to Nicole’s club. Could her booming establishment actually be the murderer’s target? We’ll ultimately have to tune in to the eight-episode limited series to find out.
The Barry and Killing Eve actress joined Team Cockroach (or is it the Soul Squad now?) for their third season as Simone, Chidi Anagonye’s spunky neuroscientist colleague and love interest. Her sharp wit and effortless humor not only made her a quick fan favorite, but an excellent counterpart to Chidi’s stringent philosophical outlook and Eleanor’s brash-but-relatable persona. Apparently Howell-Baptiste’s chemistry with Bell did not go unnoticed, as the two proved to be a killer comedic duo.
Howell-Baptiste is a deservedly busy woman these days: In addition to Veronica Mars, she will be returning to HBO’s Barry for its second season, and is also co-starring in the Freeform comedy pilot Girls Code. It’s almost as if Tinsletown is trying their damnedest to make her our new best friend—and honestly, we just need to let that happen.
