The Good Places Brainy Bunch enters a bumpy boulevard

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Thursday, October 11. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The Good Place (NBC, 8:30 p.m.): Happy The Good Place day to you and yours! The description of tonight’s episode, “The Snowplow,” notes that “A surprising announcement from one of the humans threatens to dissolve the group”—the group being the Brainy Bunch, the new, considerably less appropriate name for Team Cockroach. We have no reason to suppose that Jason (Manny Jacinto) is the one making that announcement, but look at him up there! He’s hollering something! Whatever happens (and odds are, with The Good Place, anything we guess will be wrong), Dennis Perkins will help you process the food puns and the big ideas alike.

Regular coverage

Will & Grace (NBC, 9 p.m.)
How To Get Away With Murder (ABC, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

Murphy Brown (CBS, 9:30 p.m.): In its heyday, Murphy Brown was a titan of the topical (remember the Dan Quayle stuff?). This new iteration is considerably creakier than the first, but the title “#MurphyToo” is enough to snag our interest. In the episode, Murphy attends a sexual harassment seminar with the staff of her morning show, then “[finds] herself reeling from the long-repressed memory of her own #MeToo moment.” We’ll be tuning in to see if the new Murphy can bring some of the old Murphy to what’s a very Murphy story.
