The guy from Kraftwerk is suing a guy for making a thing called a Kraftwerk
German electronic act Kraftwerk is suing a German-based electronics manufacturer for naming one of its phone chargers after the group. Kraftwerk frontman Ralf Hütter filed a trademark infringement suit Monday against eZelleron, Inc., saying “consumers are likely to assume that there is a connection, association, or relationship between the famous electronic Music band and” the Kraftwerk charger, which is essentially a portable power plant that charges devices in seconds. Unfortunately for Hutter, though, “Kraftwerk” actually means “power station” in German, meaning eZelleron can argue it’s merely named its device after what it does and not after the electro icons. Some sort of mutual agreement between the two parties could be fun, too—especially if eZelleron could provide some sort of quick charge to Kraftwerk’s occasionally meandering tracks.
