The hunt for the next American Idol might be back on at NBC
It seems like just yesterday we were bidding farewell to the talent search of the aughts known as American Idol. It was actually about a year ago that American Idol departed from Fox after 15 seasons, leaving a “pitchy” void in fans’ hearts. But their ears might perk up upon learning that NBC is in talks to revive the series, which was created by Simon Fuller and once reigned over with an iron fist and fitted black tee by Simon Cowell. According to Variety, the peacock network is negotiating with AI production company, Fremantle Media.
Of course, this raises questions about just how a renewed American Idol will fit into NBC’s programming, since that lineup already features that other singing competition series, The Voice. Well, Variety’s sources suggest that The Voice might only get one cycle a year instead of two, thereby muting Blake Shelton and Adam Levine once a year.
