The hunt for Versace’s killer heats up on American Crime Story
Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, January 24. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
American Crime Story: The Assassination Of Gianni Versace (FX, 10 p.m.): Last week’s season premiere confirmed what we all expected from the new installment of Ryan Murphy’s true-crime series: This thing is going to be gorgeous as hell. Only one episode in, and Versace has already been shot, but we’re splitting time between the past and present, learning about Andrew Cunanan’s damaged history while we also follow the manhunt to track him down. Pilot Viruet is excited to unpack it for all of us.
Regular coverage
Riverdale (The CW, 8 p.m.)
The X-Files (Fox, 8 p.m.)
Vikings (History, 9 p.m.)
Modern Family (ABC, 9 p.m.)
Wild card
Waco (Paramount, 10 p.m.): The story of the federal government’s deeply stupid response to a bunch of religious nutters in rural Texas begins tonight. It’s worth watching, if for no other reason than to see Michael Shannon play the calmest and most reasonable guy in the room for a change. (So yeah, basically the complete opposite of his The Shape Of Water character.) We said the actors elevated the material in our pre-air review, but our own Josh Modell will be on hand to weigh in on the premiere.
