It might be hard for some to believe, but it’s been 15 years since the release of the Cameron Crowe near-autobiographical classic film Almost Famous hit the theaters. But while that cinematic wonder is chock full of classic lines—“One day, you’ll be cool,” “I am a Golden God!” and “It’s all happening”—and famous scenes like the close call on the airplane or the late night phone call to Lester Bangs, there’s one moment that towers over the others: the scene on the bus when everything looks and feels so bleak until the power of Elton John and “Tiny Dancer” remind everyone why in the hell they’re all still doing this music thing in the first place.
Some beautiful genius with the handle Those Sucka Chucks has posted a video on YouTube that has taken that wistful moment and reenacted it through the wonderful medium of sock puppetry. William Miller, Russell Hammond, Penny Lane, and even a young Mark Kozelek before his days in Sun Kil Moon get to bond all over again on Doris the tour bus, only this time as creatively decorated footwear. It’s all happening indeed!
