Chalk it up to a slow entertainment-news day: The interwebs are abuzz with the news of a recently unearthed sex tape allegedly featuring Jimi Hendrix. Porn giant Vivid Entertainment (the company responsible for foisting Kim Kardahsian upon the public consciousness) has obtained the 40-year-old footage from a memorabilia collector and intends to release it on DVD.
Like the alleged Marilyn Monroe sex tape that surfaced a few weeks back (which was most likely a hoax), the 8mm film has apparently circulated in Hendrix memorabilia circles for years, and its authenticity is debated. Via The New York Times: "The film shows a naked man who resembles Hendrix, the guitar legend who died in 1970, wearing a bandanna in his Afro, having sex with two brunettes in a dimly lighted bedroom. His full face appears on screen for only a few seconds, with his eyes closed. In other portions there are flashes of his profile. But his hands, bedecked with rings, roam large on the screen at times. The film has no audio."
Those willing to fork over $39.95 and their dignity to indulge their curiosity will get the 11 minutes of footage along with commentary from two women who kinda-maybe knew Hendrix, along with a retrospective of his career that includes no music whatsoever, because who really cares about that, right?
