The Knife finally working on new album

Creepy Swedes The Knife haven’t released a proper album since 2006’s critically acclaimed, deliciously eerie Silent Shout, with only the opera Tomorrow, In A Year to fill the gap. In the meantime, of course, Karin Dreijer Andersson has kept busy with her similarly sinister synth project Fever Ray, as well as providing compelling arguments that more awards should be handed out to monsters. But in an announcement on the group’s website (picked up by Pitchfork), the group confirms that it is finally working on a follow-up that’s due to be released next year. Somehow this announcement is just a throwaway introduction to a plea to sign a petition protesting the forced evacuations of Romani people in Europe, but the statements aren’t necessarily related, we’re guessing. Hopefully this means the group is also planning to put its bizarre live show back on the road; here's the duo performing "Marble House" so you can see what we mean.
