The Larry Sanders Show is finally coming to HBO Go—in September

One of the most frustrating things about the recent death of comedy legend Garry Shandling—other than the general loss of a damn funny person from the world, obviously—was that his comic masterpiece, HBO’s The Larry Sanders Show, was suddenly so inexplicably hard to find online. Although it’s been available periodically for streaming over the years—on Netflix, and most recently with a short run on Crackle, pegged to his appearance earlier this year on Jerry Seinfeld’s Comedians In Cars Getting Coffee—at the time of Shandling’s death, there was no easy way for fans to comfort themselves by revisiting the show’s brilliant showbiz satire and sharing it with others.

Today at the network’s TCA event, executives for HBO finally set a date for the online premiere, revealing that we’ll have to wait until September 23 to stop flipping and let Artie, Larry, and “Hey Now” Hank Kingsley back into our lives. That’s a pretty long time to wait, so we’ll just have to content ourselves by sticking another one of Shandling’s comedy triumphs on repeat: the goofily self-referential theme to his earlier It’s Garry Shandling’s Show:
