The Last Ship goes on hiatus while Eric Dane seeks treatment for depression

According to The Hollywood Reporter, TNT has temporarily shut down production on drama series The Last Ship so star Eric Dane can “[seek] treatment for depression.” The show will now be on hiatus through Memorial Day, but the story doesn’t say if this hiatus will have any impact on the broadcast side of things. Last year, TNT renewed the show for both fourth and fifth seasons, with the fourth set to premiere this summer. A representative for Dane also shared a statement with People, saying that he “asked for a break to deal with personal issues” and that he wanted “a few weeks of downtime.”

The Last Ship is one of the highest-rated summer shows on basic cable, and it centers around the crew of a Navy ship in the wake of a global catastrophe that wipes out a significant portion of the human race.
