The Leftovers’ final season begins in April
Of all the mysteries remaining on the table after The Leftovers’ second season, at least we now know this: The final eight episodes of the supernatural HBO drama begin airing Sunday, April 16. In the trailer released alongside the premiere date, the show’s cast—including Justin Theroux (and his new beard), Kevin Carroll (and his new glasses), Carrie Coon (new denim jacket for her?), and Jasmin Savoy-Brown (newly open about her membership in the Guilty Remnant)—looks expectantly toward the sky, perhaps awaiting another cataclysm on par with the one that kicked off the first season. Will whatever they’re waiting for finally explain the sudden disappearance of 2 percent of the Earth’s population? In the show’s customarily teasing fashion, the trailer answers with the Beach Boys’ “Don’t Worry Baby.” (Those frustrated by the coy ways of executive producers Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrotta can take comfort in the fact that they didn’t go with “God Only Knows.”)
Season three of The Leftovers will air on Sundays at 9 p.m. Eastern on HBO.
