The Leftovers hits the road to go get Kevin
Here’s what’s up in the world of TV for Sunday, May 14. All times are Eastern.
Top pick
The Leftovers (HBO, 9 p.m.) It’s the last season of The Leftovers, and Kevin (Justin Theroux) and Nora (Carrie Coons) are in Australia, where Kevin got picked up by Kevin Sr. (Scott Glenn) at the end of last week’s emotional episode. Now the Garvey-esque gang heads down under to go get him, but how will they get there since all flights are grounded? Looks like “It’s A Matt, Matt, Matt, Matt World” will be a less emotional, more action-packed Leftovers, as Matt (Christopher Eccleston) leads the ragtag team in an effort to get Kevin back to Miracle, Texas, in time for the seventh anniversary of the Departure. Joshua Alston is on standby.
Regular coverage
Fox again tosses its programming, this time in favor of the Miss USA Pageant:
Once Upon A Time (ABC, 8 p.m.): Two-part season, not series finale
American Gods (Starz, 9 p.m.): Now renewed for season two
Silicon Valley (HBO, 10 p.m.)
Elementary (CBS, 10 p.m.)
Veep (HBO, 10:30 p.m.)
Wild card
Anne With An E (Netflix): Netflix continues its mega-ton output of new programming, and this quiet, thoughtful series is among the best of the bunch. We said that Anne With An E offers an “at once darker and sweeter” version of the beloved classic Anne Of Green Gables, which was overdue for an update from the 1985 CBC take. Anne fans, don’t miss it—and if you have kids, run, don’t walk, as this new series is bound to deliver Anne to a whole new generation.
