The Lonely Island disses the Mona Lisa, talks up pie on Popstar soundtrack
The Lonely Island’s stepping up the promotion for its latest feature-length film, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping, which will follow the rise and fall of Conner4Real (Andy Samberg). Ahead of the film’s June 3 release date, the comedy trio has shared a couple of songs from the movie’s soundtrack, a move that was forced by Zayn Malik’s latest video release. Samberg’s alter ego tweeted that the gauntlet had been thrown by his fellow former boy-bander, but Malik’s “Like I Would” track has left him as cold as the Mona Lisa, whose cryptic smile failed to impress Conner4Real on a trip to the Louvre. He documented his disgust on “Mona Lisa,” in which he calls Leonardo da Vinci’s creation “the original basic bitch, traveled thousands of miles to see your beautiful smile, talk about a bait-and-switch. You ugly.”
The second song, “I’m So Humble,” features Adam Levine and not a whole lot of self-effacement. Although Conner4Real ranks his humbleness at the top of some arbitrary list, he makes sure to reference all of his successes, which apparently include making a great apple crumble.
