The Louvre is now offering Beyoncé-based tours, so there's some good shit to see there at last
After years of serving as little more than a backdrop for Tom Hanks and his wigs to stare blankly at messily constructed anagrams, Paris’ Louvre museum is finally getting some content for the rest of us to enjoy. Relenting to the unstoppable buzz of the Bey-hive, Pitchfork reports that the museum has now started offering guided tours of its vast collections, themed around the music video for Beyoncé and JAY-Z’s new single “APESHIT.” The video—released as part of the surprise push for the married duo’s recent collaborative album, Everything Is Love—features the two wandering around the museum, posing with (and occasionally upstaging) some of the most famous artworks on the planet.
Now you, too, can reflect on works like the Mona Lisa, the Venus de Milo, and Marie Benoist’s Portrait of a Negress, and also on how nice it would be to have enough money and clout to rent out the fucking Louvre for a goddamn music video shoot. You’ll have to resist the urge to choreograph your own elaborate dance numbers while you’re there though, because—and we sincerely hate to be the ones to break this to you—you are not Beyoncé, and probably never will be.
