Despite missing its place among the 17 films selected as The A.V. Club’s worst of 2008—we hated it, but our reviewer Nathan Rabin confessed to being on the brink of the brink of laughter at least three times—The Love Guru leads all nominees for the Razzies, the annual awards given to Hollywood’s stinkiest offerings. The comedy flop received seven nominations, including Worst Picture, Worst Director, Worst Screenplay, and Worst Actor for its star, Mike Myers, whose status as a hugely bankable comedic actor has clearly hit a speed bump, if not a brick wall. Other Worst Picture contenders include M. Night Shyamalan’s The Happening, the Paris Hilton vehicle The Hottie And The Nottie, perennial worst-of champ Uwe Boll’s In The Name Of The King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, and the dire spoofs Disaster Movie and Meet The Spartans. Worthy contenders all! No matter who wins, they’re all losers.
