The Making A Murderer scandal rocks Springfield in this mashup
There’s still a tremendous amount of steam in the Making A Murderer engine. The ten-part documentary series, which premiered on Netflix this past December, has spawned an incredible amount of coverage on Teresa Halbach’s murder, Manitowoc County’s inept (and possibly nefarious) sheriff’s department, and the copious amount of corruption within the criminal justice system at large. Sure, some of the discussions are primarily focused on hunky lawyers Jerry Buting and Dean Strang, but Steven Avery and Brendan Dassey are in there somewhere too.
Since there hasn’t been any Making A Murderer-related news for about a week now, Vulture has thankfully come to the rescue with a new video to get workplace chatter abuzz again. The trailer takes the series’ controversial case to Springfield, where Homer Simpson is arrested for the murder of Mr. Burns, exonerated of the crime, but then later arrested for the murder of Myrna Bellamy. The video seamlessly combines overdubs from both shows to create a thrilling sequence of events.
In the actual episode in which Mrs. Bellamy is featured, “The Frying Game,” Homer eventually learns that he was on a reality TV show called Frame Up the whole time. (Mrs. Bellamy was never dead, nor was she even an old woman; she was a cleverly disguised Carmen Electra.) But when it comes to this parody, it doesn’t look like Homer will be getting out of prison any time soon.
