The Mooch has talked his way out of a job

Anthony Scaramucci, we hardly knew ye. Actually, that’s not true, as in the 10 days since Donald Trump enlisted The Mooch to be his new communications director, we already discovered that he doesn’t understand what transparency means, that he’s really good at emulating Trump’s gesticulations, that he’s a shitty husband, that he’s producing a Joe Paterno movie for HBO, and—perhaps most importantly—that he can’t suck his own cock like Steve Bannon. Unfortunately, it looks like we won’t be getting any more ridiculous and/or horrifying stories about Scaramucci’s time in the White House, because The New York Times is reporting that Trump has already fired him.

As the New York Times story notes, Scaramucci’s brief-but-thrilling tenure “convulsed an already chaotic White House,” and it led to the loss of both former press secretary Sean Spicer and former chief of staff Reince Priebus. The story says the information about him being fired comes from multiple sources “close to the decision,” and it sounds like Scaramucci might have been getting a little full of himself—if you can imagine that—and it rubbed either Trump or members of his administration the wrong way.

For instance, Scaramucci had supposedly been gloating about how he reported directly to Trump, not to new chief of staff John F. Kelly, and Kelly made it clear in a White House staff meeting this morning “that he is in charge.” Evidently, there’s only room in Trump’s administration for a certain number of absurdly inflated egos, and The Mooch was just one too many.

The New York Times adds that it’s “not clear” if Scaramucci will leave the administration altogether or if he’ll simply be moved to a different position, but Trump seems like the kind of guy who would rather cut someone off completely than give them a chance to do a better job.
