This first look at The Mummy reboot is just a tease for a trailer, which will arrive Sunday. Still, it does feature a brief look at the titular monster, played by Sofia Boutella in a get-up that, unfortunately, reminds us of what Enchantress was forced to wear in Suicide Squad. You see, the thing about these ladies is they’re scary, but they‘re also sexy. Meanwhile, we hear dialogue from a concerned Tom Cruise, who declares: “She is real.”
The Mummy, directed by Alex Kurtzman, is the first film in a whole new cinematic universe of monster movies from Universal. To that effect, the tagline cribs from the original Bride Of Frankenstein: “Welcome to a new world of gods and monsters.” The Mummy is due out of its sarcophagus June 9.
