The Muppets needs less discussion of felt-on-felt action
The latest reincarnation of The Muppets has attracted a decent amount of controversy, as show creators Bob Kushell and Bill Prady have added a racy edge to the traditionally kind-hearted, G-rated franchise. TV Editor Erik Adams, who understands the Muppets on a much deeper level than you do, along with A.V. Club Copy Editor and token parental unit Gwen Ihnat, take a look at what’s working (fun cameos, Muppets aesthetics) and what’s not (too much discussion of felt-on-felt action) as they examine the series’ second episode, “Hostile Makeover.”
