The National, Mumford & Sons, and The Weeknd to appear on new Game Of Thrones album
A few days ago, we reported that The Weeknd, SZA, and Travis Scott had secretly teamed up for a secret Game Of Thrones song, with insiders telling Pitchfork that we’d know more about it “soon.” Well, that apparently means right now, because we know more about it: As reported by Billboard, the track is just one of many that will appear on a new For The Throne album full of “brand new songs from an array of music’s biggest names” that are all “inspired by” the TV show.
In addition to The Weeknd, SZA, and Travis Scott, those biggest names include A$AP Rocky, Chloe X Halle, Ellie Goulding, Jacob Banks, Joy BadA$$, Lil Peep, Mareen Morris, Mumford & Sons, Ty Dolla $ign, X Ambassadors, The Lumineers, and—of course—The National (who already turned Tywin Lannister’s theme “The Rains Of Castamere” into an even more melodramatic tune for the end credits of an episode a few years ago). For The Throne will be released on April 26, with a vinyl version coming a few months later that you can get with special cover art for each Game Of Thrones house, including the dumb ones that nobody would ever want (shoutout to House Arryn).
