The nationwide hunt is on for Twinkies and Sno Balls ice cream

Like a band of crazed Pokémon vigilantes roaming the streets, America’s latest nationwide hunt centers on a limited-edition tub of ice cream. Back in December, it was announced that Nestle and Hostess would be releasing a line of ice creams based on Hostess’ beloved and non-perishable cake snacks, including Twinkies, Sno Balls, and Cupcakes. A spokesperson then said it’d be available February through May at Dollar General and select convenient stores (which seems utterly inconvenient).

This week though, the eagle eyes at The Impulsive Buy pointed out the ice cream was now available at Riesbeck’s, a chain of supermarkets in Southeast Ohio and West Virginia.

We generally curb our enthusiasm when it comes to this sort of food gimmickry, but come on, ice creamifying childhood nostalgia? A shitty start to 2017 has gotten slightly better. We’ve contacted Dollar Generals near Supper Club headquarters, and so far, nada. If you spot them, please let us know where.

(A brief survey of The A.V. Club staffers for other childhood candies and snacks they’d like to see turned into ice cream: Fun Dip with built-in Lik-A-Stix, Cap’N Crunch, Flintstones Push-Up, Juicy Fruit gum, Ecto Cooler, and Hostess’ dearly departed Choco-licious.)
