The new Kill Your Friends trailer has more friend-killing
StudioCanal has released a new trailer for the upcoming murder-comedy (is murder-comedy a genre? Well, it is now) Kill Your Friends. Based on the novel by John Niven, the film is about a sociopathic music executive in the ’90s Britpop scene named Steven Stelfox who decides to, well, kill his friends as a way to avoid being fired himself. Makes sense.
Mad Max: Fury Road’s Nicholas Hoult stars as Stelfox; he narrates the trailer, which trailer tops the first with more sex, drugs, and Britpop. There’s murder! There’s comedy! It’s a murder-comedy! Hoult’s Stelfox definitely has a Patrick Bateman-lite feel to him, in both his charming looks and psychopathic behavior. Kill Your Friends also stars Rosanna Arquette, The Late Late Show’s James Corden, Craig Roberts, and the new Transporter Ed Skrein. Owen Harris—who previously directed an episode of Black Mirror—directs from a script adapted by Niven himself.
A U.S. release date has not yet been set for Kill Your Friends, which opens in the U.K. on November 6.
