The new Star Wars character posters don’t feature Luke Skywalker (or do they?)
While there will not be a fourth trailer for The Force Awakens—although director J.J. Abrams has said that a few TV spots will come down the pike—Lucasfilm kept the hype machine humming today by releasing five posters featuring new and old faces from the newest chapter in the Star Wars saga.
For better or worse, nothing more is revealed about the plot or the characters of the film in the new posters. But, as with all things Force Awakens, fans will theorize anyway, namely that Han Solo will brandish a blaster and Princess (or perhaps Queen) Leia will spend the majority of the film in a Rebel control room similar to the one on Yavin IV. As for our new heroes, John Boyega wields a lightsaber as Finn and Daisy Ridley walks tall and carries a big stick as Rey. Absent are Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Gwendolyn Christie as Captain Phasma, and Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker—unless you buy into the theory that he is actually the wiry Kylo Ren.
The Force Awakens opens in a little less than two months…let it in.
