The New York Film Critics Circle also really liked The Social Network

The New York Film Critics’ Circle has officially joined the “Social Network 4Ever” fan page, falling in line with its colleagues in L.A., Boston, and Internet New York as well as the National Board Of Review by giving it the Best Film Prize and once again recognizing David Fincher as Best Director. However, its praise was slightly less lavish than most, with The Kids Are All Right emerging as the group’s other clear favorite: The film edged out Aaron Sorkin for a Best Screenplay win, and both Annette Bening and Mark Ruffalo claimed Best Actress and Supporting Actor prizes, respectively. They also broke with tradition by giving Sylvain Chomet’s The Illusionist the Best Animated Film prize over Toy Story 3, which hopefully Disney executives will find some way to cope with, such as having a naked money fight. (And if it’s any consolation to the increasingly snubbed Black Swan, the NYFCC dug the cinematography, at least.) The full list of winners via IndieWire.
