The next Fast & Furious movie has a title

Staying true to the practice of taking an established formula and tweaking it incrementally, Universal debuted the title of the upcoming Fast film. Furious 7 will careen recklessly into theaters on April 3, 2015.

Furious 7 will be notable as the last Fast entry to feature Paul Walker, who died in a car crash last November. Walker’s brothers were enlisted to help finish his scenes. This also marks the first time the word “Fast” will not be used in a Fast & Furious installment. Considering run times have swelled to a sprawling 130 minutes of burnt rubber, shattered glass, and glistening triceps, perhaps fast is no longer the best single-word summation.

A promotional poster displays the seven main characters arranged like Russian nesting dolls, from Abrams tank-sized Dwayne Johnson to tricycle-sized Jordana Brewster.

In seven days, “The Road to Furious 7: Trailer Launch Event at Universal Studios in LA” can be attended in person by true fanatics; tickets will be made available via Fast & Furious social pages. For the rest who would never steal nitro-boosted muscle cars to compete in a high-stakes, underground race across the country to make the screening, it will also be broadcast online.
