The next season of Black Mirror will have a choose-your-own-adventure episode
Netflix has been tinkering with interactive programming since 2017's Puss In Books, but it looks like the streaming company is now ready to incorporate such storytelling into more adult fare.
Bloomberg reports Netflix is “developing a slate of specials that will let viewers choose the next storyline in a TV episode or movie,” the first of which is expected to be released later this year. It looks like choose-your-own-adventure episodes will make their way to established Netflix series like Black Mirror, which will offer viewers a chance to get right into the dystopia of next season. Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones’ sci-fi anthology series is a natural fit for the interactive model, as Black Mirror often explores the connection between technology and humanity (and everything that could go wrong as a result). Netflix also plans to test out a choose-your-own-adventure story in its adaptation of Minecraft, as well as one other live-action project.
