The Office's Ellie Kemper has also been airlifted to a new NBC pilot
Sparing audiences from seeing the plucky heroine drown, Ellie Kemper has managed to break the surface of the capsized ship of The Office, following her fellow survivors Craig Robinson, Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, and Mindy Kaling through the hull to be airlifted to new shows of their own. Kemper has landed the lead in NBC’s comedy pilot Brenda Forever, in which “stories from Brenda Miller’s past and present are interwoven to give a unique portrait of how a chubby, awkward, but incredibly confident 13-year-old grew up to be a 31-year-old woman who still marches to the beat of her own drum.” It’s a winning premise for a quirky female actress—specifically for Zooey Deschanel, who already plays this character on Fox’s New Girl, albeit with slightly darker hair and more mascara. However, the important thing here is that Kemper has been rescued, sparing her from the rising watery grave that threatens to claim those few left behind like Oscar Nunez. “Go—save yourselves!” Nunez cries as he heroically clings to a steam valve wheel, allowing the others to escape.
