The Paramount Network (formerly Spike TV) orders pilot for a First Wives Club TV show
According to Deadline, the newly rebranded Paramount Network—formerly Spike TV—has ordered its very first pilot, and it’s something that definitely would not have fit in with the channel’s old “man shows for men” ethos: A TV adaptation of The First Wives Club. Based on the 1996 Hugh Wilson comedy movie of the same name, the TV show will be about a group of women living in New York who get together after their marriages fall apart and “find strength in their sisterhood” as well as “a little revenge.” The original starred Diane Keaton, Bette Midler, and Goldie Hawn, but the Deadline story doesn’t say who will be joining the eponymous club this time around.
