The public memorial for Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds is happening in March

Although they were laid to rest in a private ceremony earlier this month, the public memorial for Carrie Fisher and her mother, Debbie Reynolds, has now been scheduled for March. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Todd Fisher—the brother and son of Fisher and Reynolds, respectively—announced that the public will be able to celebrate the Hollywood icons at Los Angeles’ Forest Lawn Memorial Park on March 25 at 1 p.m. According to Fisher, seating will be first-come, first-serve, but there will be overflow seating and screens set up so that attendees can watch from a distance.

Fisher and Reynolds died a day apart from each other, on December 27 and 28 of last year. Since then, there have been a number of tributes to the mother-daughter pair; most notably, Fisher was adopted as a symbol of resistance and liberation during last weekend’s Women’s March, with her Princess Leia appearing on a number of protesters’ signs.
