The Raid director Gareth Evans lines up his next project

Indonesian film The Raid: Redemption is one of the most highly regarded action films of the last few years, and not just because it gives people something to sound smart about when their friends reference the similarly structured Dredd. Now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, The Raid and Raid 2 writer/director Gareth Evans has lined up his next project. Described as a “period thriller,” the film is called Apostle and it’s about “a mysterious man who travels to a remote island in search of his missing sister.” Apparently, this sister has been kidnapped by an evil cult, and the mysterious man is going to bring them down by digging into “the secrets and lies” that the cult’s commune is built on. We also imagine he’ll be taking them down with some awesome martial-arts moves while ascending a large tower of some sort, but the Hollywood Reporter story doesn’t specifically say if that will happen.
