The Rapture has broken up
The Rapture has broken up. Self-Titled reports the band’s demise, which apparently wasn’t announced with any sort of press release. DFA label manager (and Hey Dude star) Jonathan Galkin tells S-T he “kept thinking it might blow over,” but that the group eventually did just sort of dissolve.
Though sad for those who have followed the band’s evolution since its emergence in the dance-punk craze of the early ’00s, the move isn’t totally surprising. Frontman Luke Jenner has been playing solo dates in New York, and bassist/singer Matt Safer quit the band in 2009.
The Rapture’s final record was 2012’s In The Grace Of Your Love. The Rapture’s best record was, of course, 2003’s Echoes.
