The Resident takes up residence at Fox

The future of American healthcare might be in jeopardy, but at least you can still see a doctor on your TV: Fox has ordered medical drama The Resident to series. The show stars Manish Dayal—previously seen in the third season of Halt And Catch Fire—as a new resident working alongside “tough, brilliant senior resident” Conrad Hawkins (Matt Czuchry) and his fellow physicians played by Emily VanCamp, Bruce Greenwood, and Shaunette Wilson. In other news, congratulations, we’ve reached the point in time when the guy who played Logan Huntzberger can be considered someone’s senior. Maybe it’s time to get that hip checked out before AHCA wipes out your coverage.

The Resident joins a medical faculty that let private pathologist Dr. Beaumont Rosewood Jr. go yesterday. The network has had trouble keeping such positions filled in recent years, parting quickly with a doctor who specialized in “the mob” in 2013, and losing an entire pediatric ward the following year. If Dr. Gregory House were still on staff, he might be able to diagnose the problem. It’s definitely not lupus. It’s never lupus.
