Given that The Revenant is a grueling, nearly three-hour-long survival story with highlights that include Leonardo DiCaprio being mauled by a bear, you’d be forgiven for skipping a visit to the multiplex to see it. Thankfully, however, CineFix has now retold the story in just about two minutes using simple 8-bit animation. The video hits all of the movie’s big plot points, while excluding the gruesome shots of a man cauterizing his own neck wound with gun powder in order to drink water.
The Revenant video is part of CineFix’ 8-Bit Cinema series, which has previously tackled everything from Se7en to Kill Bill to Mean Girls. While humor is the series’ modus operandi, its 8-bit retellings also double as remarkably efficient plot summaries for those iconic films you just can’t quite bring yourself to watch for whatever reason.
