The Revolution announces two reunion shows at Minneapolis’ First Avenue

In the wake of Prince’s death, his backing band, The Revolution, vowed to get back together to pay tribute to its incomparable leader. Just a few months after that announcement, the band’s made good and has already scheduled two reunion shows at Minneapolis’ First Avenue Mainroom. According to Consequence Of Sound, the reunited lineup includes original members Wendy Melvoin, Lisa Coleman, Brown Mark, Dr. Fink, and Bobby Z, as well as guitarist Dez Dickerson and Prince’s childhood friend and bandmate, André Cymone.

The band broke up in 1986 after about seven years together, but not before winning three Grammys and appearing in Purple Rain with Prince, as well as on the record-breaking soundtrack. The shows are set for September 2 and 3; tickets go on sale this Friday.
