The rhythm is gonna cost you $200 as Gloria Estefan heads for Broadway

With Broadway seemingly committed to just slapping the first movie to play on TNT on a Sunday afternoon on the Great White Way, it’s kind of refreshing to see a story that actually has some music in it being adapted for the stage. The New York Daily News announced Sunday that Gloria Estefan is adapting her life story into a musical, thus causing the entire city of Miami to spontaneously start high-fiving each other. Titled On Your Feet, the bilingual musical song-sation will tell the story of the Latin superstar’s rise to fame with the Miami Sound Machine and her recovery from a near-fatal tour bus crash back in 1990. Preceding the show will be a reality series where Estefan tours America in search of three women who will play younger versions of herself. The show is still in its development stages and won’t reach the stage until 2015 at least, so do try to keep the rhythm to yourself until then.
