The Rosebuds flash their new “Blue Eyes” (with some help from Bon Iver)
Ivan Howard and Kelly Crisp are feeling summer. The core of the jangling, soaring indie-pop band The Rosebuds have a new album titled Sand + Silence on the way, and it’s every bit as wistful yet upbeat as that sounds. “Blues Eyes” is as good as the record gets; the song, which is being debuted here, does somersaults all over the beach in its attempt to put a little harmony and sun in your heart. Justin Vernon and Matt McCaughan of Bon Iver pitch in on guitar, keyboards, and drums; Vernon, a former bandmate of Howard’s from the soft-rocking Gayngs, also co-produced the album. Star-studded cast aside, it just plain shines.
Sand + Silence will be released August 5 via Western Vinyl.
