The "Save Caprica" campaign to ask Syfy how they like them apples

The inevitable campaign to save Syfy’s recently canceled Battlestar Galactica spin-off Caprica has commenced, with fans organizing a “Save Caprica” movement that essentially involves bombarding the Syfy offices with apples. Why apples? Because they represent original Cylon sin, or something, and also because they are reminiscent of the below advertising campaign. And you can’t mail the torsos of topless brunettes, at least not through the U.S. Postal Service.

“Save Caprica” is, of course, reminiscent of past fan campaigns like the FlashForward “mass blackouts” and the semi-annual “clogging of the sidewalks” by Chuck fans. (And all of these can be traced to the “peanuts” campaign that momentarily stayed the execution of Jericho.) Of course, the likelihood of Syfy changing its mind—especially when it’s already working on Battlestar Galactica: Blood And Chrome And Not As Much Talk About Religion Or Brooding Eric Stoltz—seems pretty slim. But given that Caprica revolved around a plot point of an ostracized organization blowing up trains to get attention, sure, send some apples.
