The search is underway for an actor to play young Dumbledore

Last month, J.K. Rowling alluded to the fact that Dumbledore will in some way be involved in the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them series, which now will consist of five installments. (Hopefully they’ll figure out some way to shorten that title.) Now, at a junket for the first film—due out later this month—director David Yates said that the beloved Hogwarts headmaster will show up sooner than later. Screenrant reports he’ll be a part of the second movie and that the filmmakers are currently looking for an actor to play him. “In the second movie Dumbledore comes back. He’s got a couple of good scenes with Newt,” Yates said. “We’re discussing who would play Dumbledore, any suggestions would be good.”

The search will likely force Yates and company to dig into the limited amount of British actors who have not yet appeared in a Potter film. Currently, we do know that Johnny Depp and the mysterious character he’s playing (despite being accused of domestic violence) will also be in the follow-up.
