The second season of Serial is most likely starting in November
The second season of Serial could hit as soon as next month, if a new article in Glamour is to be believed. In the piece, an interview with Serial host Sarah Koenig that runs as part of the November issue of the magazine, author Liz Brody says “season two launches this month.” While Serial’s publicist did not reply to The A.V. Club’s fact-checking e-mail, considering the piece is a glowing and interesting look at Koenig’s life and process, it’s probably at least a somewhat safe bet that the magazine has its facts straight.
Though neither Koenig nor anyone else at Serial has confirmed what its second season will be about, there is some speculation that it will look into the case of Bowe Bergdahl, a U.S. soldier who mysteriously disappeared from his post in eastern Afghanistan back in 2009. Maxim, which broke the news back in September, says it spoke with several anonymous sources who confirmed the speculation, though one of the show’s producers told Maxim that it would “very much appreciate if fellow journalists would give us some room and not feel the need to attempt to dig into and try to figure out what you think we might be doing.” In the Glamour piece, Koenig will only say that the second season is Serial’s “take on a news story that’s already caused a lot of brouhaha” and that “it’s controversial,” both of which are things that could be said about anything from Bergdahl’s case to the accusations against Bill Cosby.
