Ryan Murphy will try to somehow get The Shards to three seasons

“When I first met with him, he didn’t really want to do it as a limited series,” Murphy tells Variety. “He always thought this could be a three-year dramatic series, if not longer. I like that idea. You have the space and time and energy. You’re not doing nine or 10 episodes. You’re going to try and do 30. That’s how I could add some of my own personal things in there.” 

Though the two are credited together as writers of the first two episodes, Murphy says that he’s basically had free rein with the material. “If you have any questions, call me, and otherwise, go with God,” says Murphy. Anyone who’s watched the first few episodes of the show knows that he has. While the first episode was pretty faithful to the original novel, subsequent episodes have gotten less so; one of last night’s episodes, for example, introduced Rhonda, a girl with Tourette syndrome who hangs out alone at roller rinks played, naturally, by Ivy Wolk. Here’s to two more seasons of that!
