The sight of two shirtless dudes embracing is a little too much for Google and YouTube

A short video advertising the forthcoming release from Seattle-based singer-songwriter Perfume Genius apparently offended the sensibilities of YouTube and its parent company Google. The video, which depicts Perfume Genius' Mike Hadreas hugging porn star Arpad Miklos, was rejected by YouTube when label Matador Records attempted to upload it. According to Matador, YouTube cited its "Adult Image/Video Content" policy, which excludes "any ads that contain non-family safe material," adding that "the overall feeling of the video is one of a more adult nature, including promoting mature sexual themes and what appears to be nude content. As such, the video is non-family safe."

When YouTube concluded by stating that the ad could be posted if it was brought "into compliance with our policy," Matador asked for what specific changes were needed, and YouTube didn't respond. Check out the offending video for yourself below. [via Pitchfork]
