The Smiths’ 1986 tour rider proves Morrissey’s fondness for cheese sandwiches

It’s always fun when bands’ tour riders hit the Internet, as evidenced by this whole damn subsection of The Smoking Gun. The latest and most interesting addition to that storied backstage history is The Smiths’ rider, recently unearthed from the band’s tour of the United States in the summer of 1986. It’s nothing too shocking—Morrissey wants two “thinly cut cheese sandwiches” delivered to the bus after the show, whereas Johnny Marr prefers “cheese and tomato sandwiches” —but it’s still an interesting look at the post-show life of a much beloved band.
