The Smiths announce new 7-inch with 2 unreleased tracks
A Smiths reunion grows less likely with each passing day and split from the European Union, but fans can take heart in the news that a new 7-inch from the band is on its way. This comes from True To You, which, as a Morrissey-approved fan site, is almost as good as getting the news from the Pope Of Mope himself, right? In any case, the demo mix will feature two unreleased tracks in the form of previously unissued versions of “The Boy With A Thorn In His Side” and “Rubber Ring.” The actual release date hasn’t been announced yet, but the 7-inch’s sleeve is already out, which features a photo of a young Albert Finney. The British actor is a fellow Manchester native, and was a member of the Salford Lads’ Club, which was used as the backdrop for the inside cover of The Queen Is Dead as well as a couple of music videos.
