The Stone Roses prepare for "one of the most eagerly anticipated reunifications ever"

Brit-pop band The Stone Roses is one of rock's brightest shooting stars, causing hysteria in their home country with 1989's The Stone Roses (and laying the groundwork for the U.K. rock explosion of the '90s) and then stifling that energy with record company troubles and a little-loved sophomore release, 1994's Second Coming. After that, band members starting dropping out of the line-up, and the group finally split in 1996. That is, until now: The Stone Roses have announced two reunion gigs, June 29 and 30 at Manchester's Heaton Park, which "will form part of an extensive world tour," says the band's website. The Stone Roses are currently at work rehearsing for the shows, which the band says will be "one of the most eagerly anticipated reunifications ever." Looks like that old Stone Roses arrogance is back and better than ever!
