The sun sets on yet another season of Survivor's Machiavellian island machinations

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Wednesday, May 23. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

Survivor (CBS, 8 p.m.): The season finale of CBS’s perpetual motion machine of a reality-TV series, Survivor, airs tonight, and the two-hour conclusion is going to do its best to deliver some shocks and surprises. By all accounts, it’s been a fairly lame season, so here’s hoping Kellyn comes back with a fire hose and blasts everyone into the ocean or something. Scott Von Doviak will have some thoughts for us on how it all plays out, and if you really want to see more of this season’s goons, the reunion special airs right afterward at 10 p.m.

Regular coverage

The Handmaid’s Tale (Hulu)
The Expanse (Syfy, 9 p.m.)
The Americans (FX, 10 p.m.)
Archer: Danger Island (FXX, 10 p.m.)

Wild card

The Split (Sundance, 10 p.m.): This new SundanceTV import, made in co-production with BBC One, enters the world of London’s divorce lawyers through sisters working for rival firms—and their estranged father who suddenly returns home after 30 years. And at only six episodes, it’s not a huge time commitment.
