The surviving Beastie Boys are writing a book

The two remaining Beastie Boys are writing a book. Michael “Mike D” Diamond and Adam “Ad-Rock” Horovitz are set to celebrate the group’s history and style with a memoir slated to debut in fall 2015. Edited by Ego Trip co-founder Sacha Jenkins, the book will be structured—loosely, at least—as an oral history of the Beastie Boys.

The book’s publisher, Julie Grau, tells The New York Times that Diamond and Horovitz is looking to somehow make the book a multidimensional experience. Grau compared the as-yet-unwritten book, with its additional contributing writers and potential visual component, to the Beasties’ long-defunct magazine, Grand Royal.

Apparently all three members of the group had been in talks with a literary agent about doing a book a while back, but those plans were set aside after the late Adam Yauch was diagnosed with the cancer that ultimately killed him.
