The worst part of the holidays is always trying to schedule plans around everyone’s else’s activities. Your parents are trying to get you to come for the whole week, which is insane, because you can only tolerate about 72 hours before that anxiety-caused eye twitch thing kicks in. Your friends having competing Hanukkah parties on the same night isn’t doing helping, either. Also, who told your boss that it was a good idea to schedule the office holiday party at 5 P.M. on December 23? His assistant Edgar, that’s who. Edgar is the worst. Happily, there’s someone that wants to spend Christmas with you who’s the exact opposite of the worst: Bill Murray.
As the above teaser shows, Bill would like nothing more than to spend the holidays by your side, glumly staring out the window at the skyline, before shrugging and walking away. So, the perfect Christmas present, really. Directed by Sofia Coppola and written by her, Bill Murray, and Mitch Glazer, the special revolves around the guests who show up to help Murray celebrate the season. It’s a parade of luminaries, including George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Rashida Jones, and Miley Cyrus, among others. Expect Netflix to release this some time in December, unless Murray gets bored and pops out of a cake with it before that.
