Tig Notaro’s first HBO comedy special, Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted, is coming Saturday, August 22, and in the new teaser for her hour, a few celebrity comedians stop by to give their endorsements. More than a few, actually: Jack Black, Cheryl Hines, Sarah Silverman, Kate Micucci, Margaret Cho, Reggie Watts, Aparna Nancherla, James Corden, and Kristen Schaal all sit down to say everything they love about Tig—from her “I-don’t-give-a-shit” haircut to her mystery and uniqueness. “This is uncomfortable for me, but I’m actually not a fan of any of those people,” Notaro says in her signature deadpan after being showered with compliments.
Tig, a documentary about Notaro’s life and her battles with cancer and other tragedies, recently premiered on Netflix, and The A.V. Club spoke with her about the doc earlier this week. Now that people have seen what Notaro has gone through, with Tig Notaro: Boyish Girl Interrupted they can see how she comes out on the other side with humor.
