The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are coming back out of their shells

We reported on a lot of horrible news in 2016, but one of the most horrible was the confirmation that the Michael Bay-produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series would not be getting a third installment. Thankfully, nearly two long years later, we can now report a much happier development: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has hired Bad Words writer Andrew Dodge to put together a script for—dramatic pause—a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Before you start grabbing some pizza and saying cool teenager things like “cowabunga” and “heroes in a half-shell,” we should point out that we don’t know anything about this new TMNT movie. THR theorizes that it will be better than the last two, but that’s just based on the assumption that Paramount wouldn’t go through the trouble of hiring a writer if it wanted a worse movie.
