The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles won’t emerge from the sewers for part 3

Alas, Turtleheads, your dreams of a third Michael Bay-approved Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles adventure are about to be dashed. In an interview with Collider, producer Andrew Form said the franchise, at least in its current form, is not likely to continue. “I don’t think there’s Turtles 3, but I wouldn’t say there’s never going to be another Turtles movie,” he said, keeping hope for the turtle-loving masses alive.

The second TMNT film, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, came out this summer and did far worse than its predecessor at the box office. Form, for one, was baffled by this development. “We’re still so proud of the movie; it just didn’t find an audience,” he said. “We really don’t know why.” The A.V. Club is just confused that the TMNT movie starring Laura Linney wasn’t as successful as the TMNT movie not starring Laura Linney.
